As a boomer, I bought my home when I was 45. Needed help from my mom to do it. And the sun, moon and stars needed to be aligned for it to happen. Saw my 401K get trashed. Saw unions stripped of their power. Saw the middle class crash & burn. Saw $40/hr jobs disappear and be replaced with three $15/hr jobs. Saw health insurance come and go like the 93 Bus and end up costing us $1000/month for catastrophic coverage - like a meteor falling through the house.
Saw the 1%'s hold on the wealth go from 30% to 50% to 80% while everyone from my age group is thinking 80 is the new 65 as far as retirement.
And while I sympathize with what's happening with the younger generations - I really do - I have to sit back and wonder where are the f##king boomers that made bank and moved to the Bahamas and are now laughing at the rest of us?
Yeah some boomers are the cause of some evil, but there are still some 70 and 80-something billionaires and politicians snickering as they stub out their $50 cigars on someone else's carpet.
There are companies like Blackstone Equity that are buying tens of thousands of homes to rent, but you don't have to look too closely to see that boomers are not their investors.
The moral of the story: Boomers are getting schtupped just as vigorously as Gen-Xers, Millennials and others. The cause of most of the evil is at the top. History - like 5000 years of it - tells us that it has always been this way. That's what needs to change.
Your article was still entertaining though.
