Dads are meant to be tethers for little boys so they don't drift too far off course and a touchstone for girls. Something to return to, reaffirm one's direction and get on with things. They're very important. I lost mine when I was 13. Rediscovered him in old photographs more than 50 years later. That tether somehow found its way back to him. Excellent piece.
