Excellent piece, Mark. I kind of "flattened the button" I had on making mistakes during my youth, because I made quite a few of them and most were out in the open for all to see. So nowadays I don't carry that fear of embarrassing myself. I did it already and survived.
I find that in aging, women take the brunt of ridicule or adverse reactions to "senior moments," more so than men. My wife's pet peeve is, "They talk r-e-a-l-l-y slow to me like I won't understand what they're saying if they speaking normally." But she corrects them pretty quickly -- but nicely.
I think we need to just be kind to ourselves and not stress the small stuff. Cheers.
