Excellent points, Jim. I actually woke up at three this morning thinking about writing and Medium. It was me, six crickets under the house, my cat and the neighbor's light that kept going on and off as raccoons raided their trash. No blinding realizations other than - fucking algorithms!

I usually first think of - quality. Then good writers and appreciative readers. Then I think hard work. Then I set all of that aside and think - fucking algorithms.

To improve things, Medium has to share. Money, time, ideas, you name it. This platform needs to be interactive between all players. Medium has to stop thinking this is their backyard and swing set and gets to make and change the rules whenever it suits them.

I mean, they have that right, sure and we don't. But if that's how they want to run it - fine by me. Just say that clearly in the policies - own it. Don't write flowery prose about this being an egalitarian environment and then make changes that suspiciously read like financial decisions. Tsk tsk!
