Fascinating piece, David. I liked it. I found myself nodding at all the points where your trajectory in life seems to have crossed mine - not in real time - but in how we approached it. I found an Earl Warren quote on the tab of a tea bag years ago and still have it - Everything I did in life that was worthwhile, I caught hell for. That seems to sum things up for me. I got sure of myself about 50 years ago and have paid a price for that act ever since. But that's okay, the price I would have paid for not being me would have been much higher.
