Good article, just came across it.

The thing about truth (words, information, images or concepts that rattle one’s cage and insist on being listened to) is that it can be unsettling and uncomfortable to deal with … initially.

Networking is not my favorite pastime. But communicating is. Give me a reason to chat with someone who’s had an interesting life, and I’m there. Put me and that very same person in a room with the goal of me finding ways that she can help me and I can help her … and my head starts freezing up and words starts coming out sideways. It’s a thing.

I’ve always been successful at learning and doing. I’ve reinvented myself time and time again over the years and somehow, this ability to get it, and do it, has pushed people away. Not pissed them off, just made them watch me from a distance, apparently thinking— “He’s got it covered, he doesn’t need any help from me.” Not always the case at all.

So, networking … is there a pill I can take?

Just kidding. Already looked. 😉

Can’t argue with the truth.
