Good read, excellent points. Really.

And God I appreciate your tenacity in making points about Medium and generally trying to get things changed. And being civil about it. 😁

I admit, I go a little Brooklyn about this platform and feel like kicking ass more than talking nicely about change. 97% of the time I am nice and cordial but sometimes I wonder how change is being defined here.

One thing that immediately bothers me is that the interviews are being done with Top Writers. Where are the little guys, the ones that make $21.15 a month, have 874 followers, and have been at it for three years? They should be doing the interviews. Because their issues and their barriers are more likely to resonate with the masses than these three.

Example: If I were a baseball hitting coach and was hired to improve a team's batting average - I would not start with the team's top three hitters!! I would start with the guys batting 7-8-9 in the batting order. These are the ones needing help now.

It seems off. Also the comment about Medium's focus being the readers - I'm not totally sure how I feel about that statement. Either Tony is extremely intuitive and sees far beyond what I see or he's lost the plot. If writers - all writers - suddenly slept for 30 straight days without producing. Medium would lose a large percentage of the readers.

Readers AND writers are equally important.

Lastly, the point where Tony said Pubs are where writers learn. Hmm, I've been editing off and on for three years - there's no time to line-edit copy. If a new writer gets - Please read your copy more closely before resubmitting - he's getting a lot. I don't understand the workability of this comment.

Okay, it's been a long week, I am a little cranky and maybe I'm missing the plot myself. It's just that if I were King I would make different changes.

But then maybe I should do what you're doing Linda, writing it all up with specifics and throwing it out there. Thanks again. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
