Great article.

AI for writing is much the same as robotics for manufacturing and shipping - it's a means of reducing overall costs for the work being done.

And with AI in general it is a way to generate the capacity and capability for robots in the future to perform skilled activities like flying, space travel, surgery and so forth. It's technology embracing Sci-fi to create a future different than most of us are envisioning.

The problem is the first point above is driven by profit. The second point is driven by challenge and ego - Can I create a robot to dance like Fred Astaire?

Combined they are a problem. Amazon and Bezos see no problem in reducing 98 jobs out of a 100 to robotics. Others will follow - if it makes money.

I think AI on Medium sucks - to use the technical term. AI is 100% facile in reconfiguring existing data/facts. That's an algorithm in play - manmade instructions on what to do and when. But can they program AI to create fiction, poetry and so on that's original? That it sounds like Keats and Angelou - sure. But like Bob 174A - I don't think so.

I'm against AI on Medium 100% - except in tracking down where the reads are going and the pennies that used to come to writers. That would be acceptable. Cheers. 😊🌹
