Great piece George. Humans are strange creatures. When we achieve enough we chide ourselves for only having enough. When we get more, it’s too little compared to what we should have. We work like it’s 1799 where hours are all we have to grow food, make clothing, and build a life.
If I were conspiratorial at all - God forbid - I’d wonder who was creating this false narrative? Who benefits from all of us working without having an end in sight?
Work has become therapy. We need it to distract us from the madness that seeps into our lives through social media.
You’re right, George. Unplug. Thirty years ago we didn’t know 95% of what we know now. We’re we happier ? I can’t say for everyone but definitely less stressed!
Knowing everything when it happens is highly overrated and 95% a waste of space anyway. Do I need to know the price of TP in Tanzania or what Boris Johnson did at 10 Downey Street at 3 am with his grannies’ knickers? No I don’t.
Unplug. 😊👍
