Being right is primordial - it has everything to do with survival. Being wrong means being dead - in some long ago time and place. But some of that history is still within us and still being used. Incorrectly I might add, but used nonetheless to solve our problems.

We are also very competitive beings - again the same link to our past. Being right is a race that we must win - only it never works out that way. It's not a race and there is no winner. There's just discourse and compassion and eventually understanding.
