Hey George,

Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Great piece my friend.

I'm Italian by birth, which means that half the words I use everyday are "said" by my hands. They are vital to my verbal communication, but I haven't figured out a way to convey these gestures through my writing.

So, I have learned over the years to to re-read my work constantly and say the words out loud. In this way, if it sounds like a fifth grader struggling at the end of class, then I rewrite.

I love to laugh so try to make others do the same, without resorting to one-liners or knock-knock jokes thrown in the middle of a piece on Evolutionary Biology. It also helps put me in a good mood as well.

Bottom line - is that writing is a solitary activity designed to be used and enjoyed by others. Which means we can isolate ourselves as much as we like as we lure the Muse to us each morning, but when it comes down to the writing itself, we need to envision all the readers sitting in our office listening intently to what we have to say.

That's why I always get dressed each day before I start writing. 😁

Thanks again. 👍🦄👏
