If indeed a player strums a melody that we all dance to, from whence did this player come? And are we obliged to spend our lives dancing so?

I think determism and free will are not mutually exclusive - they just have their own patch that they are in control of.

Can we affect the future and steer it just a bit in our favor? I say yes. And are we also destined to be the effect at times, unable to change things, no matter how hard we try? Also yes.

Greatness and failure come from the same place as do love and hate. In the end we decide, whether we like it to admit it or not.
