I can imagine that the world's first priest/shaman came about 200,000 years ago when this guy somehow convinced his tribe mates that he spoke with the animals and they spoke back and if the others follow him, they'd stay fed.

It's amazing how many people have a direct line to God. Forget technology, forget 5G, they've been beaming messages back and forth with him for decades - which is probably while they need those big jets - they get them closer to God, less static.

What is it that turns a brain into mush? That makes a somewhat nortmal human being believe they are channeling God's will and are at constant risk of damnation?
