I didn’t want to read your article. I read the headline and grabbed for my mouse to look for something else. But something made me click. I’m glad I did.
Part of the reason is that your from my home town (almost). I’m from Brooklyn. The other part is that the story is about your father and lately, I’ve been getting more in touch with my father as well (almost). He died when I was 13 and I spent the next 50 years not really knowing the man. That’s changing.
It’s tough reading what you wrote. Being sad is a part of life. It helps form what our understanding of happy is. But BEING sad, living inside that emotion while looking for a way out, that’s a whole other story.
