I don't know - I go a little dizzy when listening to Tony and what he thinks should be done on Medium. If we are responsible for driving traffic - that means taking the actions necessary to bring outside readers into the Medium ecosystem - who benefits though? External readers interested in some writers is good for Medium - they become new members. But not for writers as we don't get rewarded for 10K external views.

Sure sounds like a model that Tony would like because he then has to do less to grow Medium. All the writers are busy creating "hits" that benefit Medium and maybe the writer if they get rewarded for it.

Tony is selling the perfect plan for Medium and selling the idea that - No, this benefits ALL the writers. How exactly? If Google drives 50K views will Medium pay us for them?

Again, makes me dizzy because there's something disingenuous about what Tony is selling. Build your own audience works if writers are paid for the reads they generate. But Medium keeps tinkering with reads, distribution and so on, to tweak their bottom line first but selling all of this as a great plan for writers.
