I found this a very interesting piece. Had no idea there were so many porkies being told in general conversation. In my experience, most lies came in the form of accusations.

People exaggerate their statements for effect I guess and lie a lot.

I think you're right people do lie too often, but most are benign in my opinion - at least that's been my experience. But I've met some good liars never any gold medalists like you're describing. Would find that difficult to be in the same room with that happening.
