I have empathy for your situation as I have experienced the same type of responses on NB - albeit for mostly political Op/Ed pieces. As I see it people draw this hate from a body of data that is in conflict with the one being discussed. Regarding LGQBT the aversion to this subject comes predominantly from Religion. Religious dogma states that same sex anything is a sin and must be avoided or one will go to hell. A strong motivation to condemn anyone involved with it. My Op/Ed pieces run into the river of divisiveness concerning Left & Right politics. My commenters "hate" left leaning anything. If I stated that Lacrosse was a liberal college sport - then they would hate lacrosse. The hatred feeds off the conflicting pool of information. LGBTQ vs Religion. Op/Ed pieces trying to speak to truth means I'm a Libtard, a leftist, a commie or whatever. All knee-jerk. No reasoning whatsoever. A pity, so many minds going to waste.
