Claps are like pats on the back. One can be real nice - makes one feels warm and fuzzy inside. Fifty could leave someone with whiplash or a subluxation - that can be costly.

I've had people leave a wonderful comment and no claps - which is fine by me. You can give someone a clap while racing for the bus, but a comment takes time and effort - always appreciated.

Let's face it, on Medium claps & comments are currency. We've begun to like them as much as money, because money is hard to come by. Maybe it'll change with the new rules - we'll see. But a good comments makes a writer feel wanted and that's always a good thing. Cheers.
