I read a lot of sci-fi in my teens and 20s and I find that the writers did have some predictive abilities - and why not. My top choice for this would be Issac Asimov.

Now I don't think a Ouija board or crystal ball was used, but I think when you write in that genre and you read in that genre you tap into the zeitgeist of the subject and open a bit of a crack in the space time continuum. You do get a glimpse of what will be or certainly what can be. And when you're making prognostications about future events and you live and breathe science and technological possibilities, then year, you might just predict the future.
