I write it to remind myself as well. Humans are often guilty of thoroughly appreciating the moment — after it has passed.

I live in the world of commerce and appreciate that it exists when it comes time to buy food and pay the mortgage. But there are times when it feels annoying. When it’s in the car with you, changing stations to commercials only. When walking in the park and seeing for sale signs stapled to trees.

There really is a time and place for it, but money and the need for it (and I am referring to the genuine heart-felt need for it) sometimes just takes over. We can’t seem to help it. We want a little more — just to make up for the time we didn’t have it at all.

I try to keep the spirit in mind whenever I can. Keeps the child in me smiling. And we all need that child in us to be happy.

Happy holidays, TSA.
