If I were selling inkjet cartridges online (which I did) I would know pretty much who my audience was. But when writing personal essays, poetry, etc. I find it much more difficult to know who an audience is. When engagement is low - I wonder why - but don't have enough info to understand. Like throwing darts at a wall with blindfolds on, hoping one will hit its mark. Great piece, George.
