If you’ve lived your entire life in the shadow of the Empire State Building, you may think this as the only noteworthy building on earth.

If you’ve lived in the shadow of Christianity, as we do in the West, you might believe in a God, that God is a man, that his son was Jesus Christ and that the Bible contains his words, as he said them. This is a limited view of the universe, in my opinion, and turns prayer into a single-purpose activity.

Words of want flowing from one person to a God. Typically a Christian, Judaic or Muslim God.

What if we all had a say in the spiritual nature of the universe? What if we all were, in some way, a god? An entity of comparable power and ability. Would not a 100 of us, intently hoping/praying/wishing that a person be healed or forgiven be equally powerful? Is it not possible that the power of 100 or 1000 souls intent upon a given objective, could achieve the same result as a miracle, only directly?

We have delegated certain terms and certain phenomena exclusively to the purview of religions. We have said, clearly enough and often enough, that help is there … above, but not here… in us. What if we’re wrong? What if this was always “God’s” intent. Wouldn’t that be the most sincere and honest reflection of our love, the acceptance of this wish, to be like him?
