I'm from Brooklyn and saw that bridge a thousand times before I left the city years ago. It's beautiful and majestic 150 years after it was built.
The Roeblings created new technology to bring it into existence, technology that was used afterwards to build other bridges.
Just down the road is the Verrazano Bridge - different technology, but some of the same genes are in it as well. It was the longest suspension bridge in the world for decades, until surpassed by another marvel somewhere else in the world.
