Interesting article.

Being human means we are social creatures. We like interaction, being talked to and engaged with. When things go silent (and we're not in a movie theater) we get worried - did we do something wrong. So we listen and observe and try not to make those types of mistakes - whatever they might be.

I think we will always care what others think about us in some way. The key is not to react poorly to them.

Reacting means taking it personal. People will tell you that your clothing looks funny or allude to it in some way. Do you go home and change your outfit or do you address them in some way - or simply ignore the comment? That's ground zero in my opinion. Your reaction there determines how you live your life. If they're right, you listen and change and gain a sense of style. If they're wrong, you might end up chasing something that isn't there. That will seed doubt in your perceptions of yourself. Not a happy place.

Certainty of self and who we are, sets the tone for our lives. The rest will come more easily after this.

Cheers, Bill.
