Interesting stuff!

Getting news off social media is a little like getting our daily nutrition from reading the labels on vitamin bottles. I'm not saying the old system of one anchor giving us all the news worthy of being news was great - it's just that there were fewer points on the line for information to be altered, diminished, or faked. Every person on social media touching the news changes it to some degree, making the end product unpredictable or unreliable. Years ago I would get emails from people who were red-faced with alarm about what they had just heard or read. 99% of the time what they heard was false, but they passed it on regardless. This was from otherwise reliable people that I knew and worked with. It didn't stop them from sending alerts that FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) was setting up concentration camps. Social Media is by nature frivolous, erratic, funny, and irreverent - and they should give us our news. Oy!
