I've known people who could describe a delicious chocolate cake in terms that made me want to kill myself. And could talk about bad news and dire conditions like they were puppies and bunny rabbits. Both equally out to lunch. The thing is we need a good balance of good and bad every day. We need more hope than hopelessness, but without the occasional - doom and gloom we fall into an emotional and motivational rut.
Somebody screams fire - and we think - Barbeque.
Not good. We need to know that good is there every day but bad isn't. Not in the same amount. It's all about balance.
I don't hate doomsayers, personally. But like chocolate chips on my chocolate icing, on my chocolate cupcake, with my chocoloate filling - just know what fucking enough sounds like.
You can tell people the building is on fire in a way that makes them think - I can get out of here, or in a way that makes them run toward the flames.
I'm on your side, Steve. Hope is like air, without it - well I don't want to think about that. Cheers.
