Joseph Campbell put it another way, Follow your bliss. Essentially, follow what brings you joy.
While there are countless sayings and ideas out there that can help us, there are also thousands of clip and cool quotes that we sometimes latch onto because they seem to provide us with some insight into who we are and where we are going.
Write what you know, is another one that comes immediately to mind. There is some truth to this statement, but in reality it’s simply one answer to one question, What do I write about now?
I don’t believe there are any easy ways to design a life or come up with one plan or series of steps that will lock us into a trajectory that we will be happy with for the rest of our lives. Life in all its amazing parts is simply far too complicated for that to be successful.
By following our bliss, it may open our eyes and mind to what is possible. It’s up to us to constantly test our progress in meaningful ways. Do we feel purpose driven? Does what we do bring us Joy? Not every moment or every day, but on average are we happy with it? Is there contentment in our lives, a balance that rests easily in our hearts and mind?
Sure, find your passion, follow your bliss and by all means write what you know. Just never stop checking or asking yourself, is it working?
