Perhaps there's a little irony in all of this, in that back in the day when TW3 was at the forefront of political tomfoolery, there were certain situations that were televised that were deemed beyond belief or probability by mainstream audiences - which is why we all laughed at them. And yet today we look fondly at politics 50 years on and wish it was all that straightforward again.
The danger with Trump and others like him, is that they elevate lies to the same level as the truth. Thus blurring the lines that had been clear and vital for such a long time.
But at least there is laughter.
