Rosennab - this is one of the most fundamentally sound arguments I've read on the subject of apologies, redemption and the power of forgiveness.

If it weren't for some bizarre mutant gene that all humans seem to possess, that insists some catastrophic event will occur the moment a person admits they were wrong, apologies would be as needed as boots on a penguin.

It's a simple act - a tough act, but one that takes far less courage than dashing across a minefield, and yet, most people will run from it.
