We only vote for people we really like?

As in …

We only work when we really like it.

We only step outside when the weather is what we really like.

We only talk when there’s someone in front of us that we really like.

We only make our mind’s up when there something in there that we really like.

In a perfect world, which this is not at the moment, we can wait for Mr. or Mrs Right to step into the political arena and only then vote. But in this all too real world, that makes George Orwell look exceedingly prescient, you need to pull finger and vote for the right person and this point in time.
