Thank you for this article. For the past 250 years America has done a great job in balancing its "calling" in the world to do good deeds and help others in need, with keeping in check its inner demons. Those reminders of the inequities that exist, even in a country that has done so much good.

They are there, thinly veiled and made to look like mistakes or "issues" that were resolved long ago -- but never were.

Today, those demons are creeping along Main Street, having been given permission to strut by a president and his followers. They're out now. They're clear to see. America has issues, real and in need of change.

But it hasn't lost any of the good - we just need to refocus on them and take back what is rightfully ours - warts and all.

America needs everyone's help now.
