Thank you, Rebecca.

Harrowing experience! Just for swimming.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this subject lately. Society keeps making decisions about a given subject and moving forward with them — even when they are based on too little information, incorrect information, incorrect analysis of existing information, and so on. They then act like precedents that support or “prove” later decisions and thus we go further and further into the weeds making wrong decisions and believing wholeheartedly that they’re are somehow correct.

A gun sitting in a rack in the basement is pretty benign. But a gun is not designed and engineered to clear a field, bridge a stream or quietly shoo a person away. They are made to kill. That we use to them to protect and defend — fine. The same argument can be made for a rock. We use rocks to build walls and houses but yes, a rock is a blunt object that can kill.

The point being is when they get into the hands of a human being they inevitably will end up killing something.

THAT is what is being missed. We blithely move to the protect and defend part of the argument and announce that guns don’t kill people. Yes, they do. That’s why they exist!

We need to start rethinking our past — as Man — and stop putting hands over our eyes and saying we’re good. We’re not. We’re not all bad, we just keep making the same mistakes, and rather than admit — we fucked up — we make the same mistake over again to prove we were right.

That is insanity in action.

As always, appreciate your thoughts and comments.
