The "handshake" started as a way of showing the other that there was nothing in your hand - like a sword of knife. Nothing to fear. Now it is a gesture of warmth and greeting and for some of understanding as well.

When potenial violence is right outside your door, lurking in the bushes ten feet away, it is understandable that we are wary and expect the worst. But that reality is many lifetimes ago.

We need to pull ourselves out of the past and into a present that we'll create together.

If we guffaw every time someone mentions peace on earth - then what chance have we got in achieving it?

We have to believe change is possible and then go about making it happen.
