The past isn’t always remembered exactly as it was. We fudge a little and fill in the gaps when we don’t recall who said what — who was right. But that doesn’t stop us from constantly turning our heads and looking back. Using the past to guide us or remind us of what we once were and what we had. I wonder why we don’t look to the future as much for the same thing? Is it because it’s not yet in focus — like a piece of film still being developed — the image is not yet set?

I woke up this morning feeling a little sorry for myself, feeling like the things I thought cool yesterday were not really all that. Like maybe things weren’t working like I thought it was. Then I read your piece.

Felt like you’d been in my head last night — frightening thought. :-)

But it’s what I needed to see.

Thanks Paul Gene Barnett
