There’s a great divide between responsibility and blame. People hate being blamed for something. You didn’t get the brakes fixed — now look what happened! So, they deflect. The shop was closed. The mechanic wanted $400 — that’s robbery, it’s his fault the car crashed. I’ll sue.

Responsibility on the other hand is just being someone an incident impacts and having to be the person that tends to it.

You’re late for work — it starts raining and your suit gets soaked and you have a meeting. You go home, change and make light of it at work later. Rather than cursing Mother Nature and trying to get the boss to agree with you.

For most people responsibility for politics ends with the vote — as you say. Well, voting between a doorstop and idiot for councilman is hardly a choice. The process needs to be fixed.
