There’s the rub, sane people seldom vote for war. War movies try to prove the point that it doesn’t work but most just take away the stories of heroic actions and honorable deaths and that’s not the reason to watch them. Anyone who votes for war should first be enclosed in a room and made to read every word about the Battle at the Somme — every single word — and then read off every single man killed or wounded. And only then allowed to cast a vote. Three million men participated in that battle, and one million of them were killed or wounded. People need to think about that. This is what Capt. Kirk wanted to impress on Anan 7 and others — to actually breathe in the horrors of war, and feel them intimately.

Thanks for stopping by.
