This sort of ageism is pretty widespread - especially on TV and in Movies. My wife and I are constantly checking each other's reaction when turning on a new show and seeing the latest FBI Agent In Charge - a lovely young woman - who looks barely able to buy a six-pack, let alone run a squad of agents.

That's why we watch British and International shows. They have no problem showing two 60-somethings kissing or a 50-something being the lead detective.

Seeing characters with warts and all is fine, since we are all warts and all most of the time.
