Trying to understand what Medium is doing these days feels like me trying to understand Crazy Eddie back in 1969. It was hopeless as his affection for LSD tore a hole in the space-time continuum and he slipped through it.
Medium runs the platform, programs the algorithm, makes all the changes and every time I read their articles on what's being done to make things better I feel even more confused.
It's like if you don't read between the lines you'll never get what they're saying. They're pushing quality and read time and say this is WHERE IT'S AT - as we watch every story get less and less traffic if it's not Boosted. And they follow it up by stating - you'll make money even if we're paying less for some stories but on average it's all good. Huh?!
I'm adding Medium to the list of things you don't want to know how they're made - along with Sausages and Laws. Cheers.
