Well said and so on point. As we grow older the true reasons we did things come to light. Christmas for getting presents, great food and visiting cousins. Thanksgiving for pumpkin pie and turkey. Good reasons I suppose - I thought so. But there was deeper meaning to these holidays that we didn't always get. We tried teaching them as our parents tried teaching us. Some of those lessons stuck, others not so much. I think today we need to harken back to those meanings, not because they were so much better but because our reasons for doing things today seem more market driven than those healthy warm and fuzzy ones we shared as children.
