Well said, Brian. When my mom disagreed with what I was doing or saying — most of the time, she really didn’t understand it. She’s a smart woman, so it wasn’t about intellect. We were just different. We looked at things differently and those perspectives were just a little out of her reach and most of her contemporaries as well. They were uncomfortable with it all. And I understand it.
They liked cocktails, we liked weed. But that was bad. So, we shouldn’t be doing it — even if it was safer. Reasons didn’t come into it — it was just wrong.
I disagree with people all the time and their ages range from 6 to 96. It’s not about age, it never is. It’s about people and their willingness to stretch and see other points of view. See, not necessarily agree with.
I’m hoping the next generation and the one after that learn from our mistakes most of all— and lord knows we have made them. But we did a few cool things along the way. Cheers, Brian.
