Well written and interesting article.

Made me think a little further about Jefferson and the Founding Fathers as a whole.
The north was heavily invested in trade, shipping, whaling and so on. The south in agriculture and the need for many hands.

Did the framers intentionally leave slavery for others - kick the can down the road as you put it - or did they know that economically the southern states without slavery would be crippled financially. Could they take the risk with a country just a few years old, and enforce the end of slavery, damn the consequences?

I’m not sure but it’s something to consider beyond the mental, moral and spiritual failings of the framers.

There’s culpability aplenty. Interesting to look at it from different perspectives.
