When I was a kid in Brooklyn, I'd check out the small rivers that ran down along the curbs and imagined them carrying small ships and people destined for places I might never see.
As it turns out, I ended up seeing a few of those places. England being one of them. Cursed the morning on many a day because it was raining - AGAIN! Now I wish for those same mornings.
I too live in California. Ever hotter California. We used to have great months of rain 40 years ago. January through March - glorious feet of rain. Now they measure by the millimeter.
Humans are inherently lazy people - even the industrious ones. We stare at the tap as we fill our glass and think about water - wonderful water. Then drink it down, put the glass away and check our phones. No thought to where the water came from. Content in knowing "someone else" is taking care of it.
Read a recent article that said "someone else" was retiring and to wish them a fond farewell.
Hmm, who's replacing them?
Great article. Rebecca. 😊🦄💚🌹
