When my daughters were both under five, I would get up at 5:30 am, sit at my typewriter with the day’s first cup of coffee and work on my writing. Back then it was TV spec scripts (I live in LA) or short stories. The imminent arrival of footsteps motivated me to stay focused. I got a lot done before the first one jumped into my lap. It’s been a long while since I’ve done this.

The irony is that I have an active imagination. It’s always going, always being fueled by the world around me. It prompts me to want to write every day and yet distracts me constantly as I try. An excuse, I know, but there it is. Exposed for all to read.

I’m impressed with your tenacity and volume of product — well done. Now I must learn from it. Deep breath. Decide. Take first step. Wish me well. 🤞😉
