When people mistakenly assigned traits to another (slow, old, stupid, et al ) are they observing who's in front of them, or is it really a reflection of how they see themselves?
My wife tells tales of such behavior. People suddenly talking to her r-e-a-l-l-y slow like she's 6. Well, until she starts talking back and then their backs straighten, their eyes widen and they actually start paying attention.
Your article is a good slap to the back of the head for some, who need to recalibrate their ego-ometer.
Cheers Jan 😊💚
