We live in a society whether USA or New Zealand where comparisons are constantly in use. Otherwise why would we need to choose between an iPhone and Samsung? Between a pair of Nike sneaks or Reebok?
The principles used to get us to buy a certain cereal or handbag are the same used to get us to question or doubt our beauty, health and so on.
