Writing poetry is cathartic for me. I'll read through a poem 5-10 times while still writing the first draft - then I usually come back to it and polish it again. It's how I write everything. Some say get it all out first - but if the last word of the last sentence is bad, the flow stops for me, so I run back change it then move on. It works for me but I don't rush to post when it's not ready. I don't think writing can be cathartic for others if they are push-push-pushing the product out to meet a deadline. But everyone is different. The right way is the one that produces the best result. Good post my friend.
